The Best Season to See Himachal's Apple Orchards

Himachal's orchards put on two very different shows a year.
Spring: the blossom
From late March to April, the valleys of Kinnaur and around Shimla turn pink and white. It's quieter, cooler, and photographers love it.
Autumn: the harvest
September to October is when the fruit comes in. You'll see trucks loaded with crates on every road, and roadside stalls selling apples for a fraction of city prices.
Buy a bag straight from an orchard — they taste nothing like what reaches the plains.
